High Energy

Description

This painting radiates high energy and was made with acrylic markers. It also gave me energy and new ideas for paintings while I was making it. A love for circles was added to my love for dots.

For this painting I used the square canvas with a red background that I had started some years ago. Because I was suffering from a frozen shoulder in 2017, I was looking for a way of painting that would be less stressful on m arm. I found acrylic markers, which are filled with a diluted acrylic paint.

Dotting with acrylic markers had the advantage that it was easier on my shoulder and took up less time than working with brushes and acrylic paint did. But the markers also quickly became clogged or would suddenly deposit too much paint. Above all I missed the 3D structure of the dropped dots. Acrylic markers for me turned out to be ideal for a study or for trying out new patterns or colour combinations.
