Description
A last day of summer, when the colours of the blooming chicory are slowly being replaced by the colours of autumn.
In the months of September and October I worked on this painting and while I was determined to give the colours green and purple the main roles, I could not resist the gold.
During my morning walks with my dog, I saw the wild chicory bloom less and less abundantly as the weeks went by. Now that it is mid-October and the last summer day is probably over, she is still there. With her beautiful blue-purple flowers, the chicory is my favourite wild flower.
Earlier this year I made another painting in which I was inspired by this beautiful flower.
For the background of this painting I was influenced by the beautiful work of Rachelle Kearns. She is a real wizard with light and her layers of circles upon circles.
